Third Grade has been busy working with clay. have finished 3 dimensional self-portraits. This was a process of learning how to effectively use clay. How to form the head so there will be no problems when it is fired. They learned how to attach pieces of clay so it will stay attached,. They learned about the firing process and how long the clay stays in the kiln- and that is heats to 1800 degrees.
They learned about glazes and how important it is to use many coats and to keep the bottom of the artwork clean.
You will find these great pieces of art in the display cabinet in the main hallway.
I will let everyone know when they will go home, parents may want to come to school to pick them up so they will not break.
